Maria Fernanda Abella, Communications Associate

Fernanda Abella joined the Guttmacher Institute in March 2008. She works with developing-country partners to communicate evidence to a range of audiences and coordinates the communications component of the Institute’s Latin American projects. Previously, she cofounded an NGO that works in Argentina on socially responsible consumption and fair trade. She also worked for an organization that promotes youth involvement in Argentina’s political and cultural life. Aside from English, Fernanda is fluent in Spanish and French and is proficient in Chinese. Fernanda has a B.A. in International Relations from San Andres University, Argentina, and received her Masters Degree in International Affairs from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, a course of study that concentrated in development and international cooperation.
